An Iowa Winter In Black And White

I spent the month of January in and around my hometown of Iowa City. Like most of the Midwest, the weather in Iowa is unpredictable at best. This January, however, seemed to be an extreme example of this. In the span of a few weeks, it was 50 degrees and sunny, 0 degrees and blizzarding, and 34 degrees with dense fog. I photographed all of these conditions on black and white film. Removing color from the compositions helps to isolate the moody deep-winter atmosphere. I hope you enjoy viewing these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
